I was looking for a service to provide…

I was looking for a service to provide low sodium meals and Home Chef showed up as per me of the best. I went to their website to check them out but before I could even look at the service or meals I had to provide billing info. They immediately charged my account so I cancelled/paused immediately. I double checked to make sure it was cancelled only to see I have meals headed to me with over 1000 mg of sodium that we can’t eat. Maybe it was my error but I feel like I was tricked. It is cancelled now and I won’t even give them a second look because you I couldn’t find anyway to contact them.

Home Chef is literally the best.

I don’t often write reviews but I love Home Chef. We’ve tried several other home delivery services as I love the concept! I order, get the ingredients, don’t have to think about it, no waste etc. We previously moved on to other services as the menus became rote, taste suffered, etc. We have been with Home Chef a few years. Almost every night we say, “this is delicious” we have rarely had the same meal. I can choose how difficult or time consuming based on my week. We eat very healthy with the choices. Portions are perfect for us. The variety and freshness of ingredients is impressive. I appreciate the communication- if there is an ingredient missing we get a message and the appropriate sub ingredients. We have had only one piece of bad produce in the entire time. We have had 2 spoiled meat weeks due to delayed delivery by the carrier and HC credited us immediately. I haven’t had one bad experience. Thank you.

I just love everything about Home Chef

I just love everything about Home Chef. I don't know where they get their meat from, but it's the best I have ever eaten. It's way better than any you can get from a grocery store. I live in Texas, where the temperature in the summer is extremely hot. I have received my boxes with the meat still semi-frozen. I have enjoyed every meal I have received . I cook for just myself so it makes it so very convenient for me and there is plenty of food in each meal. I highly recommend this company!

Unethical, poor quality food and poor communication

I used to get home chef a lot then had a break for a while. I got a flyer from home chef saying they were going to advertise on TV. I phoned them and asked the question “Will TV advertising increase the prices” The operator told me “No prices won’t increase”. I placed an order for 12 Regular Roast beef on a weekend when told on the phone 2 days earlier the price was $102 for 12 meals. On the Monday the next day of my order after I had put payment through I was told “The new price is $117 from today. I complained I wasn’t told about the big price rise. I was told if I didn’t pay the extra money “They would send a debt collector”. My view is don’t use Home Chef. Unethical and operator very rude. Their food is very average and there is a lot of other suppliers out there much better and cheaper. The roast potatoes have been soggy for years and not like I had growing up. I threw away the home chef potatoes and cooked my own in my air fryer. Mine were nice and crispy. Also there was never enough gravy and I had to add my own into the mix every time. I forgot to mention the roast beef always comes with green beans and tough. I throw them away and add my own cooked broccoli and peas. Considering I had to throw nearly half the home chef meal away and substitute my own veggies etc the cost isn’t worth it. Also you can get a bigger meal at Red Rooster or Chicken Treat Cheaper with a good size helping. Don’t use Home Chef. It’s now a rip off.

This is about Home Chef's data security…

This is about Home Chef's data security breach in 2020. I found out that they still had my data on file in 2022, even if I had not ordered any food from them for a long time. I found out- because my phone had been hacked and ALL my crypto was stolen! I added Bitdefender to my phone to trace what had happened. It turns out that my phone had been breached ONE single time, and that breach was by HOME CHEF! I contacted Home Chef's customers service, and was told that my information was sent to their Legal Team. I had of course asked them to reimburse me for my loss, and their legal team was supposed to get back to me. (The guy I spoke with in customer service was VERY rude by the way. As if I had dome something wrong by calling him.) Anyway, I NEVER heard back from customer service or their "legal team" again. I just can't believe that they treat customers like that. I will never order food from them again, ever.

Great menu's / poor packaging and delivery

I've been a customer of home chef a little more than a year. I enjoyed the service for the most part. In the last 3 weeks twice the food arrived with interior temperature above 60, I have an infrared thermometer. One shipment was delayed a day and the other was on time. This happened once last summer as well. Since this occurred twice in 3 weeks I have canceled my account. Their packaging does not hold up to summer heat, ice packs are rarely still cold - package may be insulated but not well enough and not padded to protect from rough handling. Several times the box arrived with a leaking ice pack from careless delivery people.

This was great at the beginning

This was great at the beginning, but lately we have been missing ingredients and now our food is coming late at night on a Tuesday from FedEx. We are not very happy about this because we plan on having a meal Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

May as well set your money on fire and starve

At first I really liked this service but I only received two boxes that were as ordered. This company has a terrible time actually fulfilling the orders they place. I have had weeks when all of the protein is missing from my order, other weeks where an entire meal or more is missing from my box, and weeks when the shipment is delayed by several days and the food arrives rancid. But you better bet they always charge me full price! They seem to employ the world's worst workers to pack these boxes as they are never correct. I have requested my service to be cancelled after the THIRD BOX IN A ROW THAT ARRIVED INCOMPLETE.

Really awful experience so far

Really awful experience so far. I’ve been a HelloFresh customer for 8 weeks and decided to cancel to give Home Chef a try. I regret that decision. They didn’t ship my first box even after charging me, and customer service did the very minimum to solve the issue. I decided to give them one more try because I really wanted to see which delivery service I preferred, and now my second box has a delayed shipment. Not giving them any more chances, what a horrible first impression! Home Chef sucks.

Disappointed by the quality

Was really great at first, but fish and shrimp always leak. Packages are never sealed properly-I've had a few where the bottom popped wide open. The sauces always leak. And there's no expiration dates on anything. The menus say cook within x amount of days but it's not clear from package date or delivery.
